Preparations for snow

After a good deal of work and research the Parish Council Winter Service Working Group has identified the sites in the Parish which would be suitable for the location of a grit bin. Three new bins have been ordered as has a fill of grit for all bins in need of it.

Our supplier is Derbyshire County Council with whom the Parish Council has been in close contact throughout the planning process.

Further, under a scheme promoted by DCC, Cllr Neil Slaney has volunteered to be the Parish Snow Warden. As such he will have access to a supply of salt to help him keep the footways clear around the Market Place area.
Obviously, any help with this work would be much appreciated – if you are interested and would like to know more please contact the Parish Clerk on 01773 853928 or via crichparishcouncil@btconnect.com

I would like to remind the public that the Parish Council has no responsibility for gritting roads - details of road gritting routes are available from DCC.

Annual donations/grants to organisations in the Parish Council area

When considering applications for grants to be awarded in February 2012 the Parish Council will be guided by the following criteria:

  • The organisation must serve the community and must not be run for gain.
  • The working of the organisation must involve a degree of self-help.
  • The organisation must have an open membership policy.
  • At least 50% of members must live in Crich.
  • The organisation must be able to demonstrate the need for financial support as shown by the presentation of accounts or a financial statement.
  • Donations will only be considered if the application has been made in the prescribed way and has been submitted to the Parish Clerk before 1st November 2011
Details and Application Forms are available from the Parish Clerk.

PUBLIC NOTICE

Further to my Public Notice of 20th July 2011 the Parish Council held an Extraordinary Meeting on 2nd August at which it was agreed unanimously that the 9 diseased beech trees at the Recreation Ground should be removed to ground level.
Members regret that this is the only reasonable course of action and acknowledge that the trees have made a significant contribution to the local landscape for many years. However, the safety of persons and property is of paramount importance.
It is intended that the work will take place as soon as possible and when the site has been cleared the Parish Council will undertake a replanting programme.

Anyone requiring further information should contact Clive Ludlam, the Parish Clerk.

*Snow and grit bins update December 2010*

Crich Parish Councillors have spent a good deal of time and effort in identifying the need for grit bins within the Parish area. On the basis of their study over £6000 worth of new and replacement bins along with the necessary grit were ordered in early October from Derbyshire County Council.

Unfortunately, the Parish council has no power over the timing of deliveries and the County Council has to prioritise the deployment of its delivery capability. As the Parish Council has no direct labour force, no vehicle and no facility for the storage of grit it is not a situation where a "self help" approach can be adopted.

In allocating almost 20% of the precept to the provision of grit and bins Crich Parish Council is making a clear commitment to promoting the safety of the community during wintry weather.
