Crich village cross

Editorial Winter 2017

The winter edition of CACN arrives. Although there is a lovely snow scene on the index page I am aware that snowy winters are tending to become a rare event (I hope this does not become my Michael Fish moment!). We try hard to show different views of the Crich area on the cover.

As usual, many thanks to our contributors and advertisers without whom there would be no magazine. We have several new advertisers in this issue, so do have a look to see what services are on offer.

The souvenir photo-book outlining twenty years of change in our parish is still on sale. All proceeds from the sale go the Glebe Field Centre to support all they do for our community. This book, along with the 2018 CACN calendar, will make a lovely stocking filler. The calendars are CACN’s main annual fundraising event to help keep the magazine going. The committee are grateful to the Post Office, the Glebe and the loaf for supporting both these fundraisers.

We have had problems with the email address to editor@cacn.org.uk so we have had to change this. The new editorial email address is editor.cacn@gmail.com. I hope that not too many folks have been frustrated by thinking their messages have been ignored.

Several people have said they enjoy doing the crossword but do not send their solution in for the prize draw. Several of the winners have generously donated the prize money back into CACN funds. It has been decided to continue the crossword (until our Australian, exresident compilers retire) but to stop the prize draw. A huge thank you to the anonymous donor of the prize money over the past few years.

The CACN Community Award for 2017 was awarded to Stephanie Day. Details are inside this issue.

Amongst our donations is one from Esme and family at The King’s Arms, which was in memory of Mavis Nightingale who recently passed away. Details are inside the magazine. CACN has always been generously supported by The King’s Arms.

I quite like conundrums –

IF YOU TRY TO FAIL, AND SUCCEED, WHICH HAVE YOU DONE?
