And a huge thank you to everyone who entered. The standard was exceptional and many of the photographs will be appearing in CACN over the coming months.

Also thank you to our judge Roger Bode for the ineviable task of choosing winners. Here is his judge's report on the entries–

What a fantastic collection of photographs! I can only say that it made the judging very difficult. Congratulations to all the entrants, the standard was incredibly high. There are obviously some talented snappers out there!

In choosing the winners I was looking for photos that really stood out in capturing parish life as well as looking for technical composition and an artistic eye. There are also moments that are captured by the camera that can only be described as opportunistic. I think the winning entries show this in abundance.

The winning entry is a masterpiece in its subject matter giving a flavour of rural working life. It's excellent composition and lighting are enhanced by the engaging study of human and animal interaction, each figure giving us a window into their thoughts.

The second place photograph shows us a detailed landscape, one which is a working environment as well as being scenic. It is beautifully framed and draws us in to look at all its aspects.

The third prize winner is superbly framed with its varied angles and colours against a clear blue sky. The image is crisp and minimal, intriguing and quite opportunistic pulling the eye in to the men working on the spire.

The junior category showed how versatile photography can be. There were some particularly clever studies of photos taken using old photographs within their composition taken in the exact location.

Photography can also make us smile and the winning entry in the junior section provided me with a smile as soon as I saw it. What a great shot of two schoolchildren heaving the great big onion from the veg bed. I'm guessing it had already been pulled out by the time the photo was taken yet the imagination to compose the shot and the framing make it our winner.

Second prize just had to go to the stunning leap captured by the camera. What a great action shot!

And our third prize winner showed the creativity of using an old photo (this one of the Jovial Dutchman) and including one of our schoolchildren in it too. Great character shot!

Well done to everyone and I'm sorry I couldn't award you all a prize.
