The funding crisis for Daycare at the Glebe is, as we write this in early January, unresolved. Despite the government’s repeated claim to want social care to be available in local communities, it seems there is very little money to support these words. So, it’s up to us to do what we can, if we want this highly valued service to continue for the older and socially isolated members of our community.
In the Winter 2016 edition of CACN we told you that the Management Committee was working to overturn the CCG decision to withdraw funding. We were baffled to learn only recently that social care was no longer in their budget, so quite why they didn’t tell us that at the outset is puzzling to say the least! It seems unlikely that any additional government funding will become available.
The Management Committee is working tirelessly to find alternative and sustainable sources of funding, to protect the service for the long term, and to secure the jobs of the committed and dedicated staff. While we look for long-term funding, we are also seeking short-term support to keep the service going for as long as we can.
We know everyone is very busy, but we need everybody, individuals and businesses alike, to get involved.
You can make a donation to the Daycare fund at the Glebe, and if you’re a tax payer, we can claim an extra 25% from the government through Gift Aid – thanks to all of you who have already done this.
Sign up to easyfundraising.org, and select Crich Glebe Field Trust as your supported charity. You will collect free donations for Daycare from participating retailers every time you shop online (and at no cost to you!)

* Four Live & Local shows at the Glebe this winter and spring, with all profits going to the Glebe – see the article “Lve and Local”.
* We are thrilled that one of our residents has booked Crich favourite Lesley Smith to come to the Glebe on 22nd April with her entertaining and informative portrayal of Katherine Swynford – for more information click here

We really appreciate the donations and fundraising events held since the withdrawal of funding at the end of September – thank you! So far, these have efforts have raised over £11k, but this is nowhere near enough to replace the £32k a year in lost funding.
