In January 2012 I will be volunteering on a two-year programme with a charity called OM Ships International. Hopefully these key questions will explain more about my future with OM.
“…Who are OM Ships?”
OM Ships (Operation Mobilisation Ship Ministry) are an international charity with the purpose of bringing knowledge, help and hope to port communities around the world. This is done by supplying educational and Christian resources, helping people at their point of need through different projects, and sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ at every opportunity.
“…What will I be doing?”
I will be personally involved with the charity by joining their ship, the MV Logos Hope. Most of the time will be spent in ports, serving practically on board and in local communities with a crew of 400 people, representing over forty different nationalities. I have been told the programme is hard work but very rewarding!
“…How can you support me?”
Most of the ship’s expenses are covered by donations. In order to cover my stay I need to raise £550 per month, which is over £13,000 for two years. This covers living costs, and contributes to port visits, vessel expenses (fuel, engine, dry dock, deck, technical projects) and other resources. Among lots of fund-raising ideas over the next few months, I would like to invite you to prayerfully consider sponsoring a small amount on a monthly basis. More importantly, please join me in prayer for the ship and its ministry overseas, its crew members and for preparation in the coming months leading up to January.
If you have any questions or for more information, feel free to contact or email me
laura.howard@om.org, or visit the ship’s website at www.uk.om.org.
Blessings, Laura Howard
There will be direct debit forms and leaflets at the back of the church soon if you would like to support Laura.
