Hello to all in Crich and surrounding areas. My name is Vicki Wilding and I live in Tansley. I am the new ‘Stay and Play Coordinator’ for your local Toy Library. I just wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you all. My family and I moved to Derbyshire just two years ago from Bedfordshire. My husband Chris and I wanted a better quality of life for our children, and were lucky enough to have the chance to fulfil our dream. I am a busy mum to six children, aged between four and nineteen; the oldest two have flown the nest. This has meant that through my life I have had plenty of opportunities to practise my child-care training, first aid and even the odd craft project or two! I started working for Matlock Toy Library as Stay and Play Coordinator just over a year ago. In May I joined the Crich Toy Library Team. I look forward to getting to know you all, so please feel free to pop in for a cuppa, when you have a moment to spare!
Crich Toy Library is growing. In June 2011 the Toy Library team took over the management and running of Belper Toy Library, located in the grounds of Belper High School. It had been struggling over recent years and we have introduced our successful fun structure of Stay & Play Sessions. There are weekly themes which incorporate stories, songs and craft activities. Examples of these have been The Music Man, National Flower Week and good old Elmer and the Hungry Caterpillar! We supply hot drinks for the adults and healthy snacks and drinks for the children. Since then sessions have grown from strength to strength. All our Toy Library members have access to over 2000 toys and resources via our online toy store www.toylibraries.org. We continue to work closely alongside the Sure Start Children’s Centre and have regular visits from Amber Valley Speech & Language Therapist (see our website for dates and times). We also have close links with Health Visitors.
Everyone is welcome to our Toy Library sessions from 0 – 99 years:-
* Crich Toy Library at Crich Glebe Field Centre on Mondays 9.30 a.m. till 11.30 a.m
* Belper Toy Library at the Bungalow Thursdays 1.30 p.m.– 4.00 p.m.
Our Toy Libraries could not function without our dedicated team of volunteers. The Toy Library Team want to take this opportunity to say a massive “THANK YOU”. Volunteer opportunities are available at Crich and Belper. All our volunteers are CRB checked and invited to complete the Derbyshire Volunteer Passport Scheme.
Details of our end-of-term Christmas parties are available on our website at
